Federal High Court Halts Ganduje’s Suspension, NNPP Disclaims Involvement in APC Chairman’s Troubles

A Federal High Court in Kano has intervened, halting the suspension of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), by his ward. The court’s decision follows an ex parte motion filed by Ganduje seeking to enforce his fundamental right to a fair hearing.

In a memo addressed to several security stakeholders, including the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Comptroller General of Immigration Service disclosed that Ganduje had been placed on a watchlist. The court’s order directs that Ganduje’s purported suspension should not be implemented until the case is heard and determined, setting April 30 as the date for the hearing of Ganduje’s appeal.

Meanwhile, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from Ganduje’s predicament, dismissing claims that its leaders, including Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were involved. The Acting National Chairman of the NNPP, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, emphasized that the party had no hand in Ganduje’s suspension or legal troubles.

Furthermore, Ahmed refuted allegations that the NNPP was moving against Ganduje to take over the APC ahead of the 2027 elections. He clarified that there were no plans to collapse the NNPP structure into the APC, asserting that the NNPP’s aspiration is for the APC to merge with the NNPP.

Additionally, Ahmed addressed the purported suspension of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State from the NNPP, affirming that Governor Yusuf remains a bona fide member and a valuable asset to the party. He criticized the “political jobbers” behind the suspension and highlighted Governor Yusuf’s significant contributions to the NNPP and Kano State.
