Elder Statesman Urges EFCC Chairman to Revitalize Prosecution of High-Profile Corruption Cases

Chief Edwin Clark, an elder statesman, has called upon the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, to revisit high-profile corruption cases involving ex-governors and politicians and prosecute them to a conclusion. Clark’s plea comes amidst the EFCC’s pursuit of a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in connection with corruption allegations.

In an open letter titled “The Reviving of All Abandoned High Profile Corrupt Cases Against Politicians by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),” Clark commended the EFCC chairman for his dedication to combating corruption. He urged Nigerians to support Olukoyede in his efforts to root out corruption, emphasizing the importance of defeating the pervasive menace.

Clark emphasized the gravity of corruption, quoting former President Muhammadu Buhari’s assertion that failure to combat corruption would have dire consequences. He dismissed criticisms of Olukoyede’s actions as mere propaganda and affirmed his belief in the chairman’s approach to tackling corruption.

Recalling previous correspondence with the former Attorney-General of the Federation, Clark highlighted pending corruption cases involving former governors. He urged swift investigations and trials for those implicated, particularly those who currently hold positions of authority in government.
