Delta State Police Parades 12 Suspects, Including Teen Who Faked Kidnapping

The Delta State Police Command made a significant stride in crime prevention as it paraded 12 suspects, including a 17-year-old boy who orchestrated his own kidnapping in the Agbor area of the state. The suspects were presented at the police headquarters in Asaba, the state capital, by Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi.

According to Olufemi, the teenager had fabricated a kidnapping scenario, claiming he was abducted in Okhumera quarter, Agbor-Obi, on March 20, 2024. He further revealed that the teenager, in collaboration with his friends, sent a ransom demand of N1 million to his sister. However, a swift response from the Agbor Division led to the arrest of three suspects involved in the hoax.

Investigations uncovered that the 17-year-old and his accomplices had already collected a ransom of N700,000 and spent the money before being apprehended. The police commissioner emphasized that investigations are ongoing to unravel further details surrounding the incident.

Additionally, Olufemi expressed concern over the proliferation of hard drugs in the streets and announced the command’s collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to combat the menace. A recent breakthrough occurred on April 6, 2024, when operatives of the Eagle-Net Special Squad intercepted a white Toyota Hiace bus driven by Sunday Eze, 53, along the Asaba-Agbor Expressway, Isele-Asagba.

During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered 375 bottles of CSP codeine, 44 bottles of CSC codeine, 120 sachets of tramadol, and 33 sachets of Swinol in the possession of Eze.
