APC Governorship Primary in Edo State: Aspirant Petitions Party Chairman for Certificate of Return

Hon. Anamero Dekeri, one of the three aspirants claiming victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship primary election in Edo State, has petitioned the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, demanding his Certificate of Return as the winner of the exercise.

Dekeri visited the party’s secretariat on Monday and formally presented a letter requesting the issuance of his certificate. Spending less than 10 minutes at the secretariat, he directly approached the office of the National Chairman and submitted the one-page letter personally signed by him.

The letter highlighted that Dekeri, a serving House of Representatives member, had polled the highest votes in the election according to the local government returning officers. These officers, led by Babatunde Ojo, had declared Dekeri as the winner of the primary election.

This move comes amidst conflicting declarations by party officials. While the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Senator Hope Uzodinma, declared another federal lawmaker, Dennis Idahosa, as the winner, the returning officer of the exercise, Stanley Ugboaja, declared Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner.
