Former PDP Deputy National Chairman Resigns, Defects to APC

Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced his resignation from the party and his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Oyedokun, a prominent figure in Osun State politics, cited consultation with his loyalists as the reason for his decision to leave the PDP.

In a resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP and obtained on Thursday, Oyedokun expressed his belief that his experience, efforts, and leadership roles would be valued and appreciated in the APC. He stated, “Having observed that the ideals of we, founding members, had been sorely contaminated,” he felt compelled to shift his allegiance to the APC.

Oyedokun’s defection coincides with the movement of Mr. Dotun Babayemi, an aspirant he supported during the 2022 Osun governorship primary of the PDP, to the APC. The Osun APC announced that Babayemi and his supporters would be joining the party at a rally scheduled to be held in Osogbo on Friday.
