A tragic accident occurred along the Ilesa/Ibodi Expressway in Osun State on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a female staff member of the University of Ilesa. The incident, which caused panic and traffic gridlock, occurred a few meters away from the university’s gate.
According to sources, the victim, whose identity was not immediately confirmed, was driving home after the close of work when a truck lost control, causing the container filled with cashew nuts it was carrying to fall on her car. Efforts to rescue the victim were made, but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A senior staff member of the university, speaking anonymously, expressed sorrow over the incident, indicating that the woman was driving towards town when the accident happened. The impact of the falling container trapped her vehicle, leading to her demise.
Confirming the accident, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun State, Kehinde Adeleke, stated that the deceased was extracted from her car but was already lifeless.
