Suspected Herdsmen Kidnap Three Mobile Policemen in Delta State

Three mobile policemen attached to PMF 51, Oghara, have reportedly been abducted by suspected herdsmen along the East-West Road in the Ohoror community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. The incident, which has caused considerable tension in the community, occurred while the officers were responding to a distress call.

According to reports from Sunday Special, the abducted officers were part of a six-member mobile police team stationed at the Ughelli-Patani Road nipping point. The kidnappers not only abducted the officers but also made away with their service AK47 rifles and ammunition.

The situation unfolded when a young man, identified as Moses Progress, 22, from the Uwheru community, approached the police team to report a robbery by suspected herdsmen under a nearby bridge. He claimed he was robbed of his OPPO phone and money while performing rituals at a river.

Responding to the distress call, the leader of the patrol team dispatched three inspectors to accompany Progress to the reported crime scene. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when Progress returned alone on a speeding motorcycle, without the policemen.

Upon questioning, Progress revealed that they were ambushed by six herdsmen, leading to his escape and the policemen scattering in different directions. With no information about the whereabouts of the officers, the police team arrested Progress for further investigation after calling for backup.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State command, Bright Edafe, was unavailable for comments on the incident at the time of filing the report.
