Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Visit Nigeria in May Following Invictus Games

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit Nigeria in May following the nation’s debut appearance at Harry’s 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex received an invitation from the Chief of Defence Staff, Mohammed Badaru, who expressed willingness to host the games in Nigeria.

Nigeria, alongside Colombia and Israel, made their debut at the Invictus Games in 2023 among 21 participating nations, with 500 athletes. The visit aims to consolidate Nigeria’s presence at the games and explore the possibility of hosting the event in future years.

During the Invictus Games, Harry and Meghan spent time with the Nigerian team, with Harry joking about increased competitiveness since Meghan discovered her Nigerian descent. Meghan revealed she is 43% Nigerian after a genealogy test in 2022, expressing her desire to learn more about her roots.

The royal couple will attend the Invictus Games’ 10th-anniversary celebration at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8 before heading to Nigeria. In Nigeria, they will meet with service members and participate in cultural activities.
