Oyo State Declares Half-Working Day Ahead of Local Government Elections

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that Friday, April 26, 2024, will be a half-working day for all public and civil servants in the state. This decision is in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Suleiman Olanrewaju, in Ibadan, the decision aims to allow government employees to participate in the upcoming elections.

The circular, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, specified that government offices will close by noon on Friday. However, personnel responsible for essential services are expected to remain at their duty posts.

The state government urged all public and civil servants to exercise their civic rights by participating in the local government elections on Saturday.
