Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has taken proactive measures to enhance security around government facilities in the state following recent events involving suspected Yoruba nation activists.
In response to the attempted incursion by individuals dressed in military attire at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, Adeleke has directed the reinforcement of security personnel around key government structures in Osun State. He specifically instructed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Samuel Ojo, to mobilize joint security teams to safeguard government installations, including the State Government Secretariat, the Government House, and other vital premises such as the headquarters of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation.
Adeleke emphasized the importance of upholding the unity of Nigeria while advocating for ongoing constitutional reforms to establish a more robust federal system. He urged activists to channel their efforts towards constructive dialogue within the constitutional framework, citing the ongoing amendments aimed at devolving more powers to the states.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, reiterated the governor’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Osun State, affirming that security personnel have been deployed to prevent a recurrence of the Oyo State incident in Osogbo, the state capital.
Adeleke expressed solidarity with his counterpart in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde, and called for restraint among agitators, emphasizing the need to collectively work towards realizing the shared vision for a better Nigeria. He also pledged support for President Tinubu’s efforts in driving federal reform initiatives, underscoring the collective responsibility to assist in achieving national objectives.
