Onjeh Accuses Suspended Benue APC Chairman of Falsehood, Clarifies Allegations

Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the APC senatorial candidate for Benue South in 2023, has denounced claims linking Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, with his recent ultimatum to the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). Onjeh accused the suspended Benue State APC Chairman, Mr. Augustine Agada, and his associates of orchestrating a smear campaign to deflect attention from his petition against Agada’s alleged anti-party activities.

Through his campaign organization, Onjeh reaffirmed his stance on the ultimatum, asserting that it reflects the sentiments of progressive elements within the Benue APC. He dismissed purported media reports and audiovisual materials implicating Governor Alia in the ultimatum, labeling them as malicious propaganda orchestrated by political detractors, including a member of the House of Representatives known for his penchant for blackmail.

Onjeh clarified that his petition and ultimatum were directed solely at the APC leadership, seeking redress for alleged constitutional breaches by Agada and the NWC. He emphasized that Governor Alia had no involvement in the ultimatum, emphasizing his respect for Dr. Ganduje and attributing his actions to a commitment to upholding party principles.

The Onjeh Campaign Organization accused Agada of attempting to sow discord within the party and divert attention from his misconduct. They highlighted Governor Alia’s adherence to due process in handling Agada’s suspension and urged the APC National Leadership to confirm Hon. Benjamin Omakolo as the substantive Chairman of the APC in Benue State to restore peace and stability.
