Nigerian Army Thwarts Kidnap Attempt in Kogi, Neutralizes Insurgents in Zamfara Operations

Troops of the Nigerian Army have achieved significant successes in separate operations, foiling a kidnap attempt in Kogi State and neutralizing insurgents in Zamfara State.

According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, vigilant troops intervened swiftly to thwart a kidnapping incident targeting passengers aboard three commercial buses along the Akpata-Obajana Road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State. The troops rescued the passengers and engaged the criminals in a pursuit, ensuring the safety of the victims. Injured passengers were promptly evacuated for medical treatment.

In another operation, troops deployed for counter-insurgency operations in the North West raided a kidnappers’ den in Zamfara State, resulting in the elimination of two insurgents during a gun duel. The raid led to the recovery of weapons, including a pump-action gun, a locally fabricated gun, live cartridges, a locally made pistol, a handset, and a tying chain used to restrain kidnapped victims. Additionally, the troops destroyed the insurgents’ camp.

These successes underscore the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country. Earlier reports had also highlighted the Army’s decisive actions in neutralizing terrorists and recovering weapons in Taraba State, further demonstrating its proactive stance against criminal elements.
