Nigerian Army Dismisses Soldiers Accused of Stealing Armoured Cables

The Nigerian Army has announced the dismissal of two soldiers, Corporal Innocent Joseph, and Lance Corporal Jacob Gani, who were accused of stealing armoured cables at the Dangote refinery on April 14, 2024. The soldiers were found to have abandoned their duty post and were in unauthorized possession of the stolen materials.

Confirming their dismissal, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, stated that the soldiers had been summarily tried and found guilty of the charges leveled against them. They were charged with Failure to Perform Military Duties and Other Civil Offences under the Armed Forces Act CAP A20.

The dismissal of the soldiers demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to upholding high standards of professionalism, integrity, and discipline within its ranks. The dismissed soldiers have been handed over to relevant authorities for further prosecution.
