Nigeria Police Force Announces Major Success in Crime Crackdown

In a significant development, the Nigeria Police Force has reported the arrest of 92 armed robbery suspects and 153 kidnap suspects, along with the rescue of 35 kidnap victims, in a series of operations conducted nationwide over the past two weeks.

During a press briefing at the Headquarters of the Intelligence Response Team in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed these staggering figures, highlighting the relentless efforts of police operatives in combating crime across the country. Additionally, the police recovered seven stolen vehicles, apprehended nine suspected cultists, and seized 44 arms and 477 ammunition of various calibres from different formations.

Adejobi expressed confidence in the collective endeavours of the various NPF units, expressing optimism that these efforts will lead to a safer and more peaceful Nigeria. He emphasized the Force’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the rights of every citizen.

In addition to addressing crime-related challenges, Adejobi noted the Force’s success in managing civil-associated issues such as labour protests. He also highlighted the crackdown on gun-running syndicates and the rescue of kidnapped individuals as notable achievements.

During the briefing, 26 suspects were paraded on various charges, including criminal conspiracy, transborder gun-running, illegal firearms manufacture, suspected kidnapping, and culpable homicide. Items seized during the operations included seven AK-47 rifles, nine automatic pistols, 1,804 rounds of live ammunition, an illicit drugs cache, and a Mazda saloon car.

Adejobi affirmed that the suspects would undergo thorough investigations and interrogations before being promptly prosecuted, underscoring the NPF’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining law and order in Nigeria.
