Monarch Urges Tinubu to Withdraw Military from Okuama, Commends President’s Economic Initiatives

The Ovie of Umiaghwa Abraka Kingdom in Delta State, Lucky Ararile, has called upon President Bola Tinubu to instruct the military stationed in the troubled Okuama community to withdraw, following the killing of 17 soldiers on a peace mission. In his address during a thanksgiving service marking his 12 years on the throne, the monarch condemned the killings as regrettable and urged for the restoration of peace in the area.

Ararile emphasized that the manner in which the soldiers were killed does not align with the cultural norms of the Urhobo and other ethnic groups in the Niger Delta, highlighting the need for residents to return, rebuild, and reclaim their lives. He lamented the destruction in Okuama following the incident and stressed the importance of security operatives adhering to their designated roles to prevent such occurrences.
