Minister Keyamo Warns Against Unlicensed Commercial Operations by Private Jet Operators

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a stern warning to private jet operators engaging in commercial services without the appropriate licenses. Describing this practice as economic sabotage, Keyamo emphasized the significant loss of revenue incurred by the Federal Government due to unlicensed commercial operations.

In an interview on Newsnight, a Channels TV programme, Keyamo highlighted the discrepancy between the fees for operating private jets privately versus commercially. He explained that individuals often obtain licenses for private use at a minimal cost but proceed to conduct multiple commercial flights, leading to substantial revenue loss for the government.

Expressing concern over passenger safety regulations in such operations, the minister asserted that strict enforcement measures would be implemented. He emphasized that President Muhammadu Buhari had instructed decisive action to curb these unauthorized activities.

Keyamo issued a direct warning to private jet operators engaging in unauthorized commercial flights, stating that stringent measures would be taken against them. He emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding regulations, safeguarding passenger safety, and maximizing revenue generation.
