Lagos State Government to Host International Fire Safety Conference to Combat Rising Fire Incidents

In response to the escalating challenges posed by fire incidents in Lagos, the Lagos State Government has announced plans to host the inaugural Lagos International Fire Safety Conference. The three-day conference, organized by the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, aims to foster stakeholders’ collaboration and devise strategies to address the persistent fire disasters in the state.

Themed “Stakeholders Collaboration: A Panacea to Incessant Fire Disasters in Lagos,” the conference will convene stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to brainstorm innovative solutions and enhance preparedness for fire emergencies. Recent incidents, including the devastating fire at the iconic 17-storey Mandilas building and the Dosumu Market fire, underscore the urgency of proactive measures to mitigate fire disasters.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is committed to the safety of lives and properties in the state, as highlighted by sustained investments in agencies like the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service. The conference will serve as a pivotal platform for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange among industry leaders, government officials, safety professionals, and emergency responders.

With a focus on cutting-edge technologies, best practices in fire safety, and disaster risk reduction, the conference will feature expert-led workshops, technical seminars, and exhibitions. By fostering synergy and collective action, stakeholders aim to bolster incident command systems and improve service delivery across all stages of emergency response.
