Lagos Police Foil Attempted Patrol Bike Hijacking, Arrest Suspect

Policemen from the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) successfully prevented an attempted hijacking of their patrol bike in Ikeja on Sunday, leading to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect named Akinjobi Wahab. Four other accomplices managed to escape during the incident.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the RRS officers, who were patrolling in plain clothes, encountered the machete-wielding suspect attempting to snatch their patrol bike at around 4 am on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

The swift action by the RRS operatives resulted in the apprehension of Wahab, while efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the other four individuals who fled the scene.

CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the Commander of RRS, had recently intensified patrols in the Agidingbi area of Ikeja in response to repeated reports of robbery incidents occurring during the early hours of the morning.
