Lagos Pastor Feyi Daniels Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Rape

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court has sentenced Feyi Daniels, the founder of iReign Christian Ministry, to life imprisonment for the rape and sexual assault of a female church member. The trial judge, Rahman Oshodi, found Daniels guilty and ordered him to spend the rest of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility in Lagos.

The prosecution successfully established the two offenses against Daniels involving a 19-year-old church member and a 23-year-old assistant. The judge, in his ruling, described Daniels as a liar with no regard for the truth. During the trial, Daniels had claimed that three out of the four women who accused him of sexual assault conspired against him, a claim he could not substantiate.

The prosecution, led by Babajide Boye, presented evidence to show that Daniels had personal relationships with the women and used his position as a pastor to manipulate them. Despite Daniels’ denials, the court found contradictions between his testimony and the documents presented.

Justice Oshodi admitted these documents, overruling the defense’s objections that Daniels signed them under duress and that they were a mix of confession and denial. This ruling emphasizes the judicial system’s commitment to addressing sexual offenses and protecting victims, particularly in cases involving individuals in positions of authority.
