Lagos-Based Prophet Drowns During Valentine’s Day Beach Outing

Tragedy struck during a Valentine’s Day beach hangout in the Ajah area of Lagos State as Oriyomi Remilekun, a fun-seeking prophet based in Lagos, drowned while celebrating the occasion with fellow church youths.

According to reports from PUNCH Metro, the deceased led a group of youths from his white garment church to Avista Beach for the Valentine’s Day festivities on Saturday, February 17. The outing, which commenced with a picnic and extended into the evening, took a devastating turn when Oriyomi went missing after the festivities concluded.

Efforts by his colleagues to locate him proved fruitless, prompting them to launch a search party. Despite their best efforts, Oriyomi remained unaccounted for, leading to concerns and subsequent reports to the authorities.

The management of Avista Beach confirmed the incident, revealing that Oriyomi’s remains were discovered washed ashore on a separate beach in the community the following day. A member of the management team, speaking anonymously, expressed bewilderment at the circumstances surrounding Oriyomi’s disappearance, questioning why an alarm wasn’t raised earlier if he went missing during the evening hours.

Friends and acquaintances of the late prophet have taken to social media to mourn his untimely demise, with many expressing shock and sadness over the loss. One Facebook user, Erinle Abel, paid tribute to Oriyomi’s character and contributions, lamenting the sudden departure of a respected figure in their community.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that he was not aware of the incident when contacted for comment.
