Kogi State Governor Attributes University Abduction to Internal Sabotage

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has attributed the abduction of students at Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, to internal sabotage, stating that preliminary investigations revealed that all CCTV cameras on the campus were switched off during the attack.

During his visit to the university campus to assess the security situation, Governor Ododo vowed to secure the safe return of the abducted students. He assured the university community that every necessary step, including non-kinetic measures, has been activated to ensure the students’ safe return.

Governor Ododo emphasized the government’s duty to protect lives and property, expressing disappointment that despite the installation of CCTV cameras, they were switched off during the attack, indicating internal collaboration.

He assured that security agencies are actively pursuing the perpetrators and that all abducted students will be safely returned, while the collaborators will face justice.

Governor Ododo commended the security agencies for their efforts in minimizing the impact of the attack and preventing the assailants from accessing university facilities. He promised to strengthen security measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the state.

The governor urged calm among parents and students, assuring them of ongoing efforts to secure the students’ return and emphasizing the importance of not disclosing operational details to the media.
