Kidnapped Pupils and Staff of Apostolic Faith School in Ekiti Regain Freedom, Driver Sadly Deceased

In a glimmer of relief, the abducted pupils and staff of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure Ekiti have been successfully freed, as confirmed by the Ekiti State Police Command Spokesperson, Sunday Abutu, on Sunday morning. However, the somber news revealed that the driver did not survive the ordeal.

The victims, who were kidnapped on Monday evening while returning from school, were released in the early hours of Sunday. The abduction occurred along Emure – Eporo Road, where the kidnappers fired shots at the bus and then abducted nine individuals, including five students, three female teachers, and the driver.

Abutu stated, “All victims were rescued today at about 1.30 am, but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was suspectedly killed by the abductors.” While the rescued individuals are now with their families, officials from the state Ministry of Health are attending to their medical needs.

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, had previously assured the parents and families of the kidnapped pupils and staff that efforts were underway to ensure their swift rescue.
