Kano APC Rejects Ganduje’s Suspension, Dismisses Ward Leaders Responsible

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), State Working Committee, has swiftly overruled the suspension of the National Chairman of the party, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, by the APC Ganduje ward in Dawkin Tofa Local Government.

In response to the attempted suspension, the Kano State APC took decisive action by suspending the ward party leaders responsible for Ganduje’s suspension. The Chairman, Inusa Dawanau, revealed that those behind the suspension were found to be engaged in anti-party activities, including holding meetings with opposition groups.

The state Working Committee endorsed the suspension of the ward’s APC leaders and initiated a special investigations panel to probe various allegations against them. The committee declared Ganduje’s suspension invalid, null, and void, asserting that it cannot stand.

Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the state’s APC chairman, announced that they have adopted the decisions of the local government party leaders and are currently investigating the culprits’ anti-party activities. Abbas emphasized that evidence of meetings between state government officials and those involved in suspending the National Chairman has been obtained, leading to the decision to sanction them for six months.

The suspension of Ganduje by the APC Ganduje ward stemmed from allegations leveled against him by the Kano state Government. However, the Kano State High Court has scheduled the arraignment of Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past governor of the state, along with his wife, son, and five others, for alleged bribery on April 17, 2024.

Despite the legal challenges faced by Ganduje, the APC’s rejection of his suspension underscores the complex political dynamics within the party, particularly in Kano State. The swift response from the state Working Committee reflects the party’s commitment to maintaining unity and discipline among its members amidst internal disputes.
