Students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State staged a protest on Friday, citing frequent robbery attacks off-campus. Singing solidarity songs, the protesters blocked the Akure-Ilesa Road, causing traffic congestion, to draw attention to their plight and urge action from the university management, government, and security agencies.
Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the deployment of police personnel to prevent the protest from being hijacked by hoodlums.
