Former President Obasanjo Urges Political Sacrifice and Collective Responsibility During Visit to Edo State

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a courtesy visit to the Government House in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, where he met with Governor Godwin Obaseki on Saturday. During the visit, Obasanjo emphasized the importance of sacrifice and selflessness among political leaders, urging Nigerians not to lose faith in the country despite the prevailing challenges.

Commending Governor Obaseki for the warm reception, Obasanjo highlighted the need for collective action and responsibility in addressing Nigeria’s hardships. He emphasized the significance of utilizing opportunities to govern effectively and cater to the needs of the people, emphasizing a shared vision for sustainable development.

Obasanjo’s message resonated with a call for unity, stating, “It should not be me but we; not mine but ours; not my tomorrow but our tomorrow, and not my generation but all generations, including the generation coming.” He underscored the importance of considering future generations in governance decisions, emphasizing the essence of sustainable development.

Reflecting on Governor Obaseki’s developmental achievements over the past seven and a half years, Obasanjo acknowledged the governor’s efforts in briefing him on the progress and initiatives undertaken in Edo State.
