The Kano State Police Command has reported a fire incident at the Divisional Police Office in Nasarawa Local Government Area, resulting in significant damage to the building.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usaini Gumel, confirmed the incident, stating that the fire erupted in the early hours of Monday, engulfing a major part of the police headquarters despite the prompt response by the State Fire Service.
Gumel assured the public that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. He also emphasized that measures have been taken to secure the area and safeguard the arms and ammunition stored within the office premises.
Furthermore, efforts are being made to salvage affected documents, with the Divisional Police Officer actively involved in the process.
This recent fire incident comes after the Kano Police Command headquarters in Bompai experienced a similar tragedy earlier in the year. The fire, which started in the provost’s office, spread to various departments within the headquarters, causing extensive damage to the infrastructure. Notably, the office of the Police Commissioner remained unaffected by the blaze.
