Final Farewell: Dr. Herbert Wigwe, Wife, and Son Laid to Rest in Rivers State

The somber occasion of laying to rest the remains of former Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Doreen Chizoba, and first son, Chizzy, unfolded at a private tomb within the Wigwe University, located in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Following a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo, the bodies were solemnly transported to the private mausoleum, where they were interred around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Tears flowed freely as the grieving attendees bid their final farewells, witnessing the solemn lowering of the bodies into the grave.

The tragic demise of Wigwe, his wife, and son occurred in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border, United States of America. The crash also claimed the life of the Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, expressed the state government’s commitment to supporting Wigwe University, honoring the legacy left behind by the departed.

The funeral service drew a multitude of dignitaries, including Kayode Fayemi, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, Aliko Dangote, Sanusi Lamido, Alex Otti, Dapo Abiodun, and Babajide Sawno-Olu. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, James Ibori, CEO of GTCO Holdings, Segun Agbaje, and several other notable figures also paid their respects, underscoring the profound impact of Dr. Wigwe’s life and legacy.
