Federal Government Flags Off Grain Distribution to Alleviate Hardship: Minister Idris Speaks Out

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has announced the commencement of a comprehensive intervention program by the federal government aimed at alleviating hardship and revitalizing the economy for sustainable development. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Government House in Sokoto, Idris highlighted the distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted food commodities from the National Strategic Food Reserve as part of the initiative to support vulnerable Nigerians.

Idris emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration is deeply concerned about the escalating food prices and is committed to ensuring the availability and affordability of essential food items for all citizens. He revealed that the President approved the distribution of grains, including sorghum, millet, and maize, as well as 60,000 metric tonnes of rice through millers to address the pressing needs of the populace.

Acknowledging the challenges associated with policy reforms, Idris reiterated the government’s call for patience and understanding from Nigerians during this transitional period. He reassured the public that the temporary hardships being experienced are part of a larger process aimed at ushering in a season of abundance and renewed hope.

“The government calls for continued patience and understanding from Nigerians as we push through these difficult times into a season of abundant benefits and truly renewed Hope,” stated Minister Idris. “As the President never fails to emphasize, these headwinds we face are only temporary, and we will surely overcome them.”
