Federal Capital Territory Administration Disburses N6.3 Billion Statutory Allocation to Area Councils

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has allocated a total sum of N6,316,621,045.37 billion to the six area councils in the FCT and other stakeholders as statutory allocation for March 2024. This significant increase, representing a 40 per cent rise from the previous month’s allocation, was announced by the Special Adviser on Media to the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud.

During the 188th Joint Accounts Allocation Committee meeting, Dr Mahmoud expressed satisfaction over the increased allocation and urged the Area Council authorities to utilize the funds for meaningful projects that benefit the community beyond staff salaries.

A breakdown of the allocation reveals that the six area councils received a total of N3,814,043,951.50 billion, with each council receiving specific amounts ranging from N564,901,838.77 million to N796,985,326.39 million. Additionally, other critical stakeholders, including Primary School Teachers, Pension Funds, Training Funds, and Employer Pension Contribution, received a total sum of N2,502,577,093.87 billion.

The meeting, attended by key officials such as Dr Abdullahi Isa Kauramata, Hon. Bitrus Garki, Dr Olusa Olusegun, Mr. Muhammed Aris, Hon. Ismail Ajaka, and Mr. Muhmud Nasiri, underscores the importance of transparent and accountable allocation of resources to promote development and service delivery in the FCT.
