FCT Police Neutralize Wanted Abuja Kidnapper and Two Accomplices

In a significant operation, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command neutralized three notorious bandits, including a wanted kidnapper, in the Bwari area of Abuja. The operation took place in the early hours of January 26, 2024, in a forest linking Abuja with Kaduna State.

The gang leader, identified as Mai Gemu, popularly known as Godara, and two of his gang members were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the police. Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this development during the parade of about 20 criminal suspects arrested for various offenses across the country.

Adejobi stated that this operation is a significant stride towards fortifying the security landscape in the FCT, following the recent launch of the SIS under the command of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun.

The FCT SIS had previously taken over a major route in Usafa, Bwari Area Council, used by bandits to transport their victims out of Abuja into neighboring states. The operation marks an escalation in efforts to combat the surge in insecurity and kidnappings in the capital, which has seen a notable increase in criminal activities over the past months.
