Enugu State Police Rescue Kidnapped Hospital Security Guard; Nurse Still Missing

Enugu State Police Command has successfully rescued a security guard affiliated with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozalla, who was reportedly kidnapped alongside a staff nurse on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the command on Wednesday, a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted staff nurse.

The incident unfolded when gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, stormed the federal hospital and abducted a female staff member along with the security guard. A viral video captured an SUV, purportedly belonging to the abducted nurse, abandoned on the road with bullet holes.

While the hospital remained silent on the matter, anonymous staff members confirmed the incident, expressing concerns over security vulnerabilities within the hospital premises.

In his statement, DSP Ndukwe outlined the successful rescue operation, which led to the security guard’s liberation in Ishi-Ozalla. He further emphasized the ongoing efforts to locate the missing nurse and apprehend the culprits.

The commissioner of police has urged residents, particularly those in Ituku-Ozalla and surrounding areas, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals to the authorities by calling “08099854883 or emailing [email protected].”
