EFCC Declares Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello Wanted for Alleged Economic Crimes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a statement declaring the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, wanted for alleged economic and financial crimes amounting to N80.2 billion.

In an official announcement posted on its Facebook page on Thursday, the EFCC stated that Bello is wanted in connection with offences relating to economic and financial crimes. The commission urged anyone with information regarding Bello’s whereabouts to report to the EFCC or the nearest police station.

This development follows reports by Vanguard that EFCC officials had surrounded Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to apprehend him. However, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo arrived with security operatives and reportedly escorted Bello away from the scene, preventing his arrest by the EFCC.

The declaration of Bello as a wanted individual underscores the ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat corruption and hold accountable individuals implicated in financial misconduct.
