Bandits Kidnap 15 Tsangaya Students in Sokoto State

Bandits have reportedly abducted 15 Tsangaya students from the Gidan Bakuso area of Gada Local Government Area in Sokoto State. The incident occurred around 1 am on Saturday at the school premises.

Confirming the abduction, the proprietor of the school, Liman Abubakar, stated that the bandits invaded the town, shooting one person and abducting a woman before targeting the students. Abubakar noted that 15 students are currently unaccounted for, with efforts underway to locate them.

Mansur Ahmadu, a resident of the affected community, described the situation as serious, indicating that the bandits killed a woman during the invasion before kidnapping the students.

Kabiru Dauda, a member of the state House of Assembly representing Gada-East constituency, received a distress call from the village around 2 am, prompting him to alert local government authorities and security agencies.

The Sokoto State Police Command has deployed a team to assess the situation, according to ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, the command’s spokesman. Rufa’i assured that the police are actively investigating the incident and will provide updates as the situation unfolds.

Efforts to reach the state governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Col Ahmed Usman (retd.), were unsuccessful. However, a top government official, speaking anonymously, confirmed the attack and assured the public that the government is taking measures to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.
