Anambra State Government Seals Businesses Over Environmental Concerns

The Anambra State Government, through Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA), has taken action to seal hotels and other business premises over environmental concerns and disobedience to court summons. Led by the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Celestine Anere, the enforcement team took this step due to the flagrant disobedience to environmental laws by some operators in the state.

Anere highlighted the public outcry over the environmental state of areas where these businesses are located, emphasizing the need to address the perennial problem of disobeying environmental laws. The government has declared zero tolerance for environmental pollution and is committed to upholding policies that promote a clean, green, and healthy environment.

The affected business premises, mostly located in Awka and environs, were sealed after weeks of court notices served by the agency and the Ministry of Environment.
