Stanley Okeke, the House of Representatives candidate of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) for the Idemili Federal Constituency in the 2023 National Assembly elections, has announced his resignation from the party. Okeke, popularly known as “Ugbo” among friends and supporters, made this decision citing the need for equity and highlighting the stellar performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in Anambra State.
During a meeting with stakeholders and supporters from across Idemili federal constituency at his Nkpor country home over the weekend, Okeke expressed gratitude to all for their unalloyed loyalty and steadfastness over the years. He thanked his supporters for standing by him through challenges, promising to reciprocate their support and loyalty.
“After very extensive consultations across the board, I wish to announce my resignation as a member of the Young Peoples Party (YPP),” Okeke stated. He thanked the party leadership for their support but emphasized the evolving dynamics of Anambra politics, which necessitated his decision to move on and support collective decisions that enhance the state’s growth.
Expressing his belief in equity and fairness, Okeke declared his support for the Anambra zoning arrangement and urged all concerned parties, especially his brothers in Anambra Central, to support Governor Soludo to complete his second term. He emphasized the tradition in Anambra for all zones to serve out their eight years in governance, citing examples of past governors.
Okeke praised Governor Soludo’s performance, highlighting his prudent financial management and remarkable development initiatives, particularly in Onitsha and its environs. He urged the governor to extend similar development efforts to Nkpor and the entire Idemili area, emphasizing the need to revitalize commercial centers and markets.
While assuring his supporters of his continued commitment to their welfare, Okeke promised to unveil his next political move after thorough consultations. He emphasized that the outcome of his consultations would prioritize the interest of Anambra State above all else, reflecting his dedication to the state’s progress and development.
