Yoruba Elders Urge President Tinubu to Address Widespread Hardship

The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has expressed concern over the growing hardship in Nigeria, calling on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the challenges faced by citizens. In a statement released by its General Secretary, Oladipo Oyewole, the YCE acknowledged hope for a better Nigeria but emphasized that the current suffering in the country is severe.

The statement highlighted key issues such as the lack of regular electricity supply, the rising cost of petroleum products, and the growing economic strain on Nigerians. The YCE urged the government to move beyond temporary solutions like palliative distributions and instead focus on long-term governance improvements that will directly enhance citizens’ quality of life.

“Nigerians are suffering deeply at this time,” the YCE stressed, pointing to the lack of basic amenities like fuel, food, and power as immediate concerns that the government must address.

The council also recommended that the government should return to the drawing board to tackle both the short-term and long-term needs of the population, ensuring that every Nigerian benefits from the nation’s resources. The elders urged the President to provide immediate relief to improve welfare, allowing citizens to live in dignity and harmony.
