Renowned skit maker and content creator Yemi Elesho has shed light on the journey of rising music sensation Asake, highlighting the challenges and changes the artist has faced since achieving fame.
Elesho, who shares a university alma mater with Asake, revealed that during their time at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Asake struggled to afford accommodation and relied on the generosity of friends for shelter. However, since ascending to stardom, Asake’s interactions with his former comrades have reportedly dwindled, prompting complaints about unreturned messages.
Acknowledging the natural evolution of relationships as individuals progress in their careers, Elesho attributed Asake’s apparent distancing from old friends to the practical limitations of fame. He stated, “Asake is big and a lot of his friends are complaining that he doesn’t reply to their messages, but it’s a natural thing; he can’t carry everybody along.”
Asake’s meteoric rise to prominence culminated in his signing to YBNL Nation in February 2022. The same month, he released his debut extended play, “Ololade,” featuring hit tracks like “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide and the single “Sungba.
