As England’s women’s rugby team prepares for their WXV clash against Canada, full-back Ellie Kildunne has called on her teammates to use their on-field dominance to fuel their off-field ambitions. Kildunne, who has scored 14 tries in nine games this year, has become one of the Red Roses’ standout players and a role model for female athletes.
Kildunne, who was named Six Nations player of the tournament, has ventured into podcasting, fashion, and creative platforms, all while maintaining her rugby excellence. She highlighted the potential for athletes to pursue diverse paths, saying, “We can become whatever we want to be.”
England, ranked number one in the world, have won 19 consecutive matches since their loss in the 2022 Rugby World Cup final. Kildunne credited head coach John Mitchell for injecting more creativity into the team’s play, adding that England’s attacking game has evolved beyond their traditional set-piece strengths.
Ahead of Sunday’s match, Kildunne acknowledged Canada’s athleticism and speed but expressed confidence in England’s ability to adapt and counter any challenges they face. The Red Roses remain favorites to defend their WXV title and continue their reign at the top of women’s rugby.
