WWE legend John Cena has revealed his plans to retire from in-ring competition, marking the end of an illustrious career spanning over two decades. During his appearance at WWE Money in the Bank in Toronto, Canada, the 16-time world champion announced that he will step away from the sport in 2025.
Cena specified that his final matches will take place at the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Sporting a ‘John Cena Farewell Tour 2025’ shirt, he shared, “I’ve been in the WWE for over two decades and in that time, I’ve seen incredible waves of prosperity like we got right now. WWE is the hottest ticket in town, no doubt, but I have also seen true hardship, that’s when no one knows your name, nobody wants to be your friend and only the most dedicated and hardcore fans stand by your side.”
Looking ahead, Cena expressed his desire to be part of the transition when WWE’s Raw moves to Netflix in January.
Since debuting in 2002, Cena has become a cornerstone of WWE. However, since 2018, he has shifted to a more part-time role to focus on his burgeoning movie career.
