Woman to be Arraigned After Fatal Shooting of Husband in Houston

Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie, a 28-year-old woman residing in Houston, Texas, is set to be arraigned in court on May 23 following the fatal shooting of her husband, Michael Chidozie, during an argument in their home.

The tragic incident occurred on March 21, when Keaiirra allegedly shot Michael four times during a heated altercation, resulting in his grievous injuries. Michael, 26, sustained gunshot wounds to his arm, chest, and torso, ultimately succumbing to complications from spinal injuries after spending 18 days on life support at Ben Taub Hospital.

The shooting, believed to have stemmed from an argument between the couple, shocked their neighbors and friends, who described the Chidozies as a seemingly ordinary couple without a history of violence. Francis Abah, a friend of Michael, expressed disbelief at the tragic turn of events, recalling the couple’s occasional disagreements but never witnessing any violent behavior.

Keaiirra currently faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, though the status of the charge is yet to be upgraded. She is out on bond awaiting her court appearance in May. Meanwhile, the couple’s two children, who witnessed the altercation, have been placed in the care of a family pending the outcome of the case.

The untimely death of Michael has left his loved ones grappling with grief and seeking to repatriate his body to Nigeria for burial. Friends and family are rallying to raise funds for his final journey home, mourning the loss of a young life cut short by senseless violence.
