Nigerian Afrobeat star Wizkid has revealed why the global fashion brand Puma selected fellow musician Davido over him. In a social media outburst on Wednesday, Wizkid addressed ongoing rumors surrounding his rivalry with Davido, particularly about Puma’s recent partnership with the latter.
The feud intensified after an X user, @Nelson Epega, suggested Wizkid was “frustrated and jealous” of Davido’s deal with Puma. In response, Wizkid dismissed the claim, asserting that Puma had approached him first but ultimately settled for Davido due to financial reasons.
Wizkid wrote in a viral post on X, “U idiot! I turned down Puma because they could no longer afford to pay me because I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste you just mentioned! Not jealous! love them all. With ur dirty ass shirt! Idiot!”
He further explained his decision, stating, “Puma is a big brand! But the budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me! Was cool for your client tho!”
