Former Manchester United and Everton striker Wayne Rooney has revealed his ambition to return to management swiftly, with the ultimate goal of leading either Manchester United or Everton.
Rooney, who was recently sacked by Championship side Birmingham City after a brief stint as manager, expressed his aspirations during an appearance on Match of the Day. The 38-year-old emphasized that managing prestigious clubs like Manchester United or Everton is his ultimate aim, acknowledging that it’s a step-by-step process to achieve such lofty goals.
While working as a pundit during United’s FA Cup tie at Nottingham Forest, Rooney outlined his career aspirations, stating, “Managing Manchester United or Everton is the aim, these big jobs are where you want to get to.” He emphasized the importance of going through the necessary steps to get back on track and prepare himself for the managerial challenges ahead.
Rooney’s managerial journey hit a setback when he was sacked by Birmingham City in January, just 83 days into his tenure. Despite the setback, Rooney remains determined to return to management, viewing it as a natural part of the job and an opportunity to bounce back stronger.
