American singer Victoria Monet and her longtime partner, John Gaines, have confirmed their separation after years of dating. In a joint statement released on Monday, the couple revealed that they have been apart for ten months.

The pair emphasized that their split was amicable and not due to “infidelity, toxic behavior nor drama.” They explained that their decision to separate was driven by the need for individual growth, which they believe will allow them to be better for their daughter.

“We spent the last 10 months trying to respectfully and privately navigate the fact that we are no longer in a relationship,” the statement read. “Though we still completely adore and respect each other, we are not a couple anymore. There was no infidelity, toxic behavior nor drama. We both just have some fundamental growing to do that would be best done apart so we can remain the best versions of ourselves for our daughter.”
