US Assistant Secretary of State to Visit Nigeria, Focus on Education and Economic Opportunities

Lee Satterfield, the Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, is scheduled to visit Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria, on March 17, 2024. This visit aims to build on the previous visit of Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, who visited Nigeria in January.

Satterfield’s trip is expected to prioritize key bilateral goals, particularly expanding access to education and enhancing economic opportunities through the creative arts. The visit underscores the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to Africa by emphasizing people-to-people connections between Americans and Nigerians.

During his visit, Blinken highlighted the readiness of American entrepreneurs and companies to invest in the Nigerian economy. He mentioned collaborations between tech giants from both countries to support President Tinubu’s initiative of creating one million digital jobs.
