England’s senior squad has welcomed uncapped players Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento ahead of this week’s Nations League fixtures. The pair will add fresh talent as the Three Lions prepare to face Greece and Finland.
Curtis Jones, the Liverpool midfielder, has earned his first senior call-up since being included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad for Euro 2024 last May, although he did not make the final selection. The 23-year-old has been in fine form and played a key role in the Young Lions’ success at the 2023 European Under-21 Championship, where he was part of the squad managed by current interim England boss Lee Carsley.
Tino Livramento, a full-back for Newcastle United, was also part of Carsley’s squad for last month’s matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, but he did not see any action in those games.
In training news, England captain Harry Kane continued to train separately from the rest of the squad at St George’s Park on Wednesday but is expected to be fit for the upcoming matches. Meanwhile, Jack Grealish, the Manchester City midfielder, missed training due to a minor knock, though it is considered a precaution.
The Three Lions are set to host Greece at Wembley on Thursday before heading to Helsinki to take on Finland on Sunday. With the inclusion of Jones and Livramento, England will look to build on their strong performances in the Nations League.
