Tyla Credits Tems for Pioneering Global Recognition for African Female Artists

 

Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla has lauded her Nigerian counterpart, Tems, for blazing a trail of global recognition for young African female artists.

In a recent interview with Kiss Fresh, UK, Tyla expressed admiration for Tems’ exceptional talent and the impact she has had on the music industry. Reflecting on their collaboration on her debut album, Tyla spoke highly of Tems’ contributions and the significance of their collaboration.

“Working with Tems is amazing. She is so talented. She is literally a force. I’m so honored to have worked with her. She has opened so many doors for us [young African female artists],” Tyla remarked.

The collaboration resulted in a song titled “Number 1,” which Tyla described as a testament to female empowerment and solidarity. Emphasizing the importance of female representation in music, Tyla highlighted the significance of creating music by and for women.

“We made such a beautiful song with such a beautiful message. It is a song for the girls and it is made by the girls,” she added.
