Tua Tagovailoa Suffers Another Concussion in Dolphins’ 31-10 Loss to Buffalo Bills

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was concussed once again during the team’s 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The 26-year-old entered the ‘fencing position’—a telltale sign of a concussion—following a tackle by Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Tagovailoa, who has a history of concussions, was quickly diagnosed after leaving the field.

Tagovailoa’s struggles with concussions are well-documented. In the 2022 season, he sustained two concussions, the first occurring shortly after a head injury that prompted the NFL to revise its concussion protocol.

Despite a promising start in the game, completing 17 of 25 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown to rookie De’Von Achane, Tagovailoa also threw three interceptions before his injury.

Meanwhile, Bills running back James Cook scored three touchdowns, helping Buffalo secure a 2-0 start to the season.

Adding to Miami’s troubles, wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who had been detained by police before the Dolphins’ season-opening win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, played in the loss. Hill had previously called for the dismissal of the officer involved in the incident, which took place hours before he scored a touchdown in Miami’s 20-17 victory over Jacksonville.
