Travis Head’s Unbeaten 154 Leads Australia to Dominant Victory Over England

Australia secured a commanding seven-wicket win over England in the first ODI at Trent Bridge, with Travis Head delivering a magnificent unbeaten 154 to lead the visitors in their highest successful ODI chase in England. Head’s innings, combined with Marnus Labuschagne’s 77*, saw Australia chase down England’s 315 with six overs to spare, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

England’s innings was built on a solid platform, with Ben Duckett scoring 95 and Will Jacks contributing 62. However, a middle-order collapse saw the hosts fall from 213-2 to 315 all out. Labuschagne (3-39) and Adam Zampa (3-49) led Australia’s spin attack as England’s innings unravelled.

Despite a brief chance when Head was dropped on six by Brydon Carse, the Australian opener punished England with a career-best ODI knock, hitting 20 fours and five sixes. Labuschagne played a steady hand in their unbroken 148-run partnership, guiding Australia to an impressive victory.

England will look to bounce back in the second ODI at Headingley on Saturday.
