A devastating lone crash along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has claimed the lives of three individuals and left two others injured, highlighting the dangers of road travel and the importance of adhering to safety measures.
The tragic incident, which occurred around Fidiwo Bridge, unfolded when a green Toyota Jeep, bearing registration number BDG213BJ, lost control due to a burst tire, authorities have confirmed. The vehicle, carrying five occupants, veered off course, resulting in a fatal collision under the bridge.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, conveyed the grim details of the crash in a statement to journalists. The injured victims were promptly transported to Victory Hospital, Ogere Remo, for medical attention, while the deceased were transferred to FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo.
The FRSC’s preliminary investigation attributed the cause of the crash to a burst tire and excessive speed, underscoring the critical importance of maintaining vehicles in roadworthy condition and adhering to speed limits. The agency reiterated its call for motorists to prioritize safety by conducting routine checks and exercising caution while on the road.
