Toprak Razgatlioglu Wins Final Race of the Season at Jerez After Securing Second World Superbike Title

Fresh off clinching his second World Superbike Championship, Toprak Razgatlioglu capped off the season in style with a victory in the final race at Jerez. The Turkish rider, now a two-time world champion, fought off his nearest rival, Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega, to win the race, which was cut short by a red flag due to track conditions after Philipp Oettl’s Yamaha encountered an engine problem.

Razgatlioglu’s victory marked a historic moment, as he became the first BMW rider to win the World Superbike Championship, adding to the title he won in 2021 with Yamaha. Bulega, who had won both the Saturday opener and the Superpole race on Sunday, was close to overtaking Razgatlioglu with just four laps remaining when the race was halted.

BMW’s Michael van der Mark secured third place, while Andrea Iannone and Great Britain’s Alex Lowes, in his final race for Kawasaki, rounded out the top five. Jonathan Rea, the six-time champion from Northern Ireland, finished ninth, closing out a disappointing debut season with Yamaha, where he ended the year 13th in the standings.

Alvaro Bautista, Ducati’s reigning champion who won consecutive titles between Razgatlioglu’s two championships, crashed out of the race, ending his season on a low note.
